Various panic and anxiety disorders are common yet many people don’t talk to them. Some even ignore the symptoms of attacks and keep it as a secret. There are some factors that put a person at risk for a panic attack.

Whether there is a genetic cause for anxiety disorders has not been discovered. It can always be possible but more research needs to be done into this possibility. There are indications that if there is a family history of anxiety disorders then the probability of having one is increased. If there is a shared history of disorders then at the very least a person should have it investigated.

Coffee and other drink stimulants can lead to anxiety attacks. The central nervous system areas that are responsible for attacks are activated when consuming stimulants such as caffeine. Many doctors will recommend a patient stay away from these and other stimulants to lower the occurrence of episodes. Once treatment and therapy are under way, it is possible the doctor will allow caffeine again and monitor the results.
